EASY STREET PART 4 - FLYING GEESE SQUARE UNITS

64 FLYING GEESE UNITS COMPLETE!   I have to figure out why my pics are a little yellow, oh well.  Lot's of work and errands this week so I'm glad to be done by Monday.

I just got my new Sew EZI Table on Saturday and it is good as the reviews that I have read on the internet.  It is holding my quite large Viking Diamond Deluxe and is as steady as can be.  The insert is high quality and fits like a glove.  It looked good studying the pics on the site, but it is even better when you actually see it up close.  Living in So Cal, it literally came in 2 days!!! Thank you Barbara at SewEZI!

The other table is my IKEA galant 48 X 24 table, which is the nicest smoothest sturdiest table and an IKEA drawer set.  So reasonable and so nice. You might recognize the chair from Arrow Cabinets. It is really comfy.

I love that I can move these pieces around if I change rooms or need to rearrange for whatever reason.

Hope all you quilter sewers have a happy week.  It is just me, or is everyone humming the Drifters' version of "White Christmas" from Home alone that plays at least twice a day on the radio." bump bump bump bi bump bi bump"....It always puts me in a good mood through out the day!

Insanity Quilt update

I realized I need to update my progress.  I haven' t gotten very far but I have completed some more!

Having switched my hexie cutting method from Inklingo to My Accuquilt Studio Hexie die cutter,  I don't have the wonderful lines of the Inklingo, but with a Frixion pen and cardstock type cut out (from printing one on Inklingo), I have an exact finished 1/2 inch hexie size to easily guide my running stitches.

Even though I have questioned myself about switching to the english paper piecing way, it is still two steps while it is just one with the regular running stitch method. With the pieces being so small it is quite doable.  And, I love they way the press out in clockwise and counter clockwise seams. No one will ever see them, but they make the block lay beautifully.

So if you still love EPP, the inklingo works great for printing the hexies on cardstock you have laying around from some unused cards and are easily cut with a rotary cutter.

I might try EPP on a bit bigger hexie project sometime.

EASY STREET Part 3

Finished my shaded four patch.  These turn out so interestingly, I love them.  It really helped using Bonnie's tip of using the solid turquoise piece as the guide for sizing and placement of the wing piece.  Also, a good SCANT quarter inch really was necessary to achieve the 3 1/2 inch cut square.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  Finishing these started mine off right. Now, on to regular chores and work!

Easy Street part 2 - FLYING GEESE

Finished my 128 flying geese just in time to post this week. I went with Bonnie's easy angle and companion angle method and it worked great for me.  I love everyone's posts of their progress and am enjoying the mystery a lot!!  Take care everyone.

Embroidery Library design

LynniePinnie design

I finally got some time to do some machine embroidery and stitched out some halloween designs on some plain towels.  They all stitched our great. After three Embroidery Library  designs which stitch out so nicely but are quite dense, I went looking for another and happened on  LynniePinnie  and found this cute pumpkin applique design which stitched beautifully and was a lot softer. I love it.  I really am enjoying sewing and embroidering with my Viking Sewing machine!

Finished Quilt - Grandma's Garden with 30's prints

Just finished this modern type pinwheel quilt called "Grandma's Garden" by Gingham Girls  making a small dent in my 30's repro stash.  The pinwheels were made using a portion of the dear jane triangle ruler. I love already having the correct ruler! I manually stippled the quilt which is always nice for  a background. It came out nice and soft after a rinse and dry. The tons of 5" squares made a sort of two sided quilt.
Quilt size approx 55" X 73"

Love these pandas!

The modified nine patch block was fun and easy

Black is a moda's essential dot

I used small yellow yo yos instead of buttons

 30's scotties are another favorite

I love the bright red binding

I used my accuquilt to cut about 250 squares for the backing

Scrappy Bargello Quilt Top Finished!

This is the Scrappy Bargello Quilt top I started at Bonnie Hunter's workshop.  I thought it would be a good stash buster, but the results exceeded my expectations by a long shot.  I couldn't believe how great the fabrics blended, despite my doubts! I used only leftovers from 10 years of quilting, with Bonnie's tips of putting together fabrics that have a gradation of hue difference or somewhat contrasting to very contrasting.

This is another favorite special quilt.

Love the Braided border!

Such a pretty mosaic

Penguins, florals and surf waves

Even a Corgi in honor of our old dogs Erin and Moses!
